Autumnal Branch Decoration / DIY

I love natural decorations. I've never been one for fake flowers or fake Christmas trees - I just don't think they're pure. I think I got that from my mother - she loves natural things as well. She'd been wanting to hang a huge branch of a tree above our dinner table and after getting past some obstacles she finally managed to. I personally love how it turned out, and I'll explain to you how she did it right after the avalanche of photographs! Bare with me!

Okay - so if you liked these photographs here is how you can recreate the little DIY in your own living room! You'll need to buy a strong piece of rope or cord which will hold your branch. Our branch is above our kitchen table so we don't want it falling down! Once you have that, screw two nails into the branch to which you can attach the cord. After you've done that, you can secure the cord to the wall. We used a really strong chain as our branch is actually a whole tree (not a big one, like you can see!) - but it's 3 meters long so quite heavy. Once you're absolutely sure the branch won't come down you can start decorating it - as you can see we used cosy hangers and little candlelights but you can use anything - you can adjust it to the season or holiday / and that's what I like so much about this idea: once you've got it hanging above your table you can do anything you want with it. Just make sure the candlelights (if you'll include them as well!) are far away enough from the rope you used to attach it with: it could catch fire and you don't want that unless you're Katniss Everdeen.

Well, as you can see my sense of humor is completely absent today. Anyways - I hope you liked this article! X Sjoukje
