Lush Products: Baked Alaska Soap + Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly (Review)

Good day! I think every girl (or boy) with even the slightest interest in beauty and good smelling products loves Lush. Whenever I visit a big city with a Lush store I always enter the shop - even if I'm not planning on buying anything. I recently visited Amsterdam and I bought a piece of soap and a shower jelly and I'm going to review them for you!

BAKED ALASKA SOAP
I never bought a Lush soap before, I don't know why. But when I smelled this beauty, I knew I had to purchase it. I bought a piece of 100g.
When the weather outside is frightful, lathering up with Baked Alaska is delightful! Made to look like a giant snowball, this zesty soap reveals its true colors with every slice. It's made with a fresh blend of uplifting lemon myrtle, toning grapefruit and stress-relieving ylang ylang oil to give it a refreshing aroma to keep your skin and spirits bright. Bring a chunk of this cheery soap into the shower with you for a spot of sunshine on gray winter days.
I love the scent of the product: it's a Christmas product but it's really fresh as well, really citrussy. The enormous version of the soap in the store was really beautiful, it looked like a giant colourful snowball and I couldn't stop looking at it. Visually, it was the most beautiful soap in the store.

Using a solid bar of soap when taking a shower isn't my favourite thing to do, though - they always slip out of my hands! I tried to take a shower with it one time, though, and it made me smell really really good. I think this soap'll last a long time - much longer than a liquid showergel would!

SWEETIE PIE SHOWER JELLY
I'd seen these funny things a few times before but a girl working at Lush approached me and my friend this time so we could try it out. The smell was so good and the feeling of the jelly was so, well, funny? - that I just had to buy it.

A shower jelly with cherries, bergamot, blackcurrant and sparkles for wobbly fun. We make an infusion with cherries and coconut, and then add carrageenan seaweed extract and boil it up to make a jelly. Cassis absolute gives a blackcurrant fragrance alongside a light refreshing note from the bergamot and cypress oil.
I love how the shower jelly looks like a plate with pudding on the picture above - (and that is exactly what it feels like, pudding). I adore the scent: really sweet, and you really smell the berries - but I find the shower jelly a bit, well, awkward to use: it keeps on slipping out of my hands! Anyways - I think I'll find an easy way of using it as everyone seems to be so enthousiastic. Don't get me wrong - I love it, and the scent is absolutely amazing - but the whole shower jelly idea just doesn't seem practical to me! (You can break off smaller chunks, though. I might have to try this.)

By the way - am I the only one who'd love to work at Lush?! There are many stores I could imagine myself in but Lush keeps on popping into my head. I think applying for a job there is quite hard, though, because the shop attendants always know so much about the products! (Small sidenote, hehe.)

I hope you liked this little review!

  1. Nice post! I have the shower jelly and have had similar problems with it, would be interested to hear if you find a more effective way to use it.

  3. I completely get what you mean about soap slipping out your hands when you're trying to use it haha. It always happens to me which Is why I tend to use shower gel. I would try that jelly for sure though, it looks really interesting! x

  5. No, you're not the only one who would love to work at Lush! What led me to enter the branch in South Kensington was the gorgeous smell that hit me as I walked past. I HAD to follow the smell! :-) I found it really cute to see a picture of the person who made the body lotion that I bought on the carton. Delicious products. They smell good enough to eat! Makes me happy to see someone else knowing the joy of Lush. :-)

  6. I also recently bought Lush soaps because I don't have a bath tub but something inside of me just really wanted to by Lush Christmas products. Unfortunately, I also haven't really found a way to use it without having to pick it up about a thousand times because it slipped out of my hands..
