Visiting Lush is one of my favorite things to do whenever I'm in bigger cities - we don't have one here but I think that makes visiting their stores even more special.
I picked up the very well known 'Lemony Flutter' some time ago: I think it is one of Lush' most famous products. It's a cuticle butter and you might think, 'why would you buy a cuticle butter?' and I was doubtful at first as well - I didn't think I'd use the product on a regular basis. I am really happy with the product, though, so I thought I'd write a little review.
WHAT IS IT?
Lemony Flutter is a cuticle butter - but it's not only that: you can use the butter on tougher and dryer places such as your elbows, heels and knees as well.
The Lemony Flutter contains lemon infusion (cleansing & refreshing), mango butter (skin-softening), shea butter (nourishing & hydrating), and tagetes oil (clear & comforting).
DOES IT WORK?
I have to admit: I never put a lot of work and effort into my cuticles - before I Google'd a bit - tried the Lemony Flutter a few times - I didn't know it would be so great. The dry skin surrounding my nails is gone and my nails feel stronger as well.
IS IT REALLY THAT VERSATILE?
Many products claim to be useful for many purposes and when I read that the Lemony Flutter'd be good for other dry parts as well, I was skeptic. However - I find myself applying the flutter to my elbows and heels very often and it feels really good. The product makes my skin feel very soft.
I've used the product as a lip balm as well and I must admit I wanted to lick my lips afterwards. If you don't have a tin of 'original' lip balm with you and your lips are cracking, the Lemony Flutter is a great solution as well.
The name gives it a way - the cuticle butter smells like lemons. The scent makes me think of sorbets and summer and I adore it. The scent lasts for a long time - whenever I apply it (and don't wash my hands) I can still smell it 2 hours after.
HOW TO APPLY
Applying the product is really easy: you only need a tiny bit of the product to cover all your nails. Gently massage the product onto your fingers and the buttery substance transforms itself into an oily substance, which is easy to spread across your nails.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
If you buy the Lemony Flutter, you'll pay about 10 euros/7 pounds for 50g. 50g seems little but it's a huge amount - the product is really frugal and you only need a small amount to cover up your cuticles/nails/elbows, et cetera. Many people on the internet say that they weren't able to finish their flutter even though they used it every day for a year or so - you can't use it after that because the product will spoil (because it's all-natural).
SHOULD I BUY IT?
If you like the smell of lemons - yes. It's very predominant so if you really hate it I wouldn't buy it. If you're not into hand- and nail lotions I'd skip this product as well: it's not extremely necessary unless you feel like giving your nails an extra boost.
However, if you're like me - a lover of good-smelling products and all beauty-related things, I think investing in this product is worth the money. It's really versatile and I can't imagine myself leaving my house without this product at this moment - you can leave all your other hand creams and lip balms and body lotions at home when you have some Lemony Flutter with you.
Thanks a lot for reading this article! Have you ever used this product? If you have: do you like it as much as I do - if you haven't - would you like to? Much love, Sjoukje
