Something New To Store Something Old

You know that feeling? That feeling you get when you're watching an old video of yourself, and barely recognize that person on screen, who has a different voice, appearance, haircut - who seems to be a completely different person - but still is you?

I'd never experienced this before, until we got out an old box of tapes from when I was about 4 years old. I saw a little me hopping around the room, singing and dancing, asking peculiar questions - and I know that little girl is me - but I don't have that realization. It's a strange feeling.

Digging up those old tapes required a new box to store them in. My mother got this wooden box and I felt like DIYing for a day so I dug up some old brushes, grey paint - put up some music and decorated this old box. I took a few pictures as I haven't shared anything creative for a while now and I always really like sharing little DIY projects with you!

This isn't really a DIY project as I don't have a list of specific steps to share with you. I could tell you to get a box, brushes, paint and create a pattern on top of that box and cover the sides with paint as well but I think it's a bit obvious that is what I did (and whoops, now I made it into a DIY).

I'm excited to revamp more basic accessories in the future as drawing (painting in this case) really clears my mind and makes me a bit more relaxed. I can lose track of time whilst painting - I don't hear the clock ticking. I love that feeling.

have a beautiful day!

  6. Fortunately I do have a lot of old tapes too and I am so grateful for that.
Most of the poeple I've known only have spare pictures and no videos from their childhood.
    I love the pattern you've created...you're talented!

  14. I love finding old videos of myself. Sometimes, I think "oh God. Who was that??" but then again, there are some videos where I think "yep. I haven't changed" (for example, a video of three year-old me stealing my brother's chocolate and saying "I'll just grab this."). I think my favourite part is seeing how I've evolved, but also how everyone else in my family has. Although we've all changed, we're still as close as before and I like to go back to where it all started.

    1. That's so funny to hear that - I have that as well! I often don't recognize myself but with other things I really see some things of the current me in my past behavior. Seeing family members is amazing as well - they've all changed so much and even though they do remember that stage of their lives, I don't.

  16. You're so right, that is a very strange feeling. We recently watched some video of me when I was six, and it's just.. weird to think that THAT is ME but I don't necessarily remember it.. You know? I love how you DIY'd this post, haha yes obvious by maybe not to some? You never know!

    Much LOVE!
