Oh, Starbucks. What I spend on one grande Chai Tea Latte could also be spent on a complete and nutritious meal for one, maybe two - but who can refuse a steamy cup of coffee during the cold winter months, or a refreshing cold beverage with the current temperatures? I know I can't.
While spending money on yourself is not a bad thing, buying one Starbucks drink a day could also finance a tiny apartment in a semi-popular city. I might be exaggerating, but we all know their sweet, sweet beverages are easy to reproduce - and that's why I'm sharing the recipe for my favorite Starbucks drink lately: the Chai Tea Latte.
We don't need a crazy amount of ingredients for this delicious drink - this homemade version is 10 times less expensive, but just as good.
milk (I love using soy milk for this one)
sugar or cinnamon flavored syrup (can be found in the coffee section at the supermarket)
ice cubes (or crushed ice, that's even better)
boil some water, add 2 bags of chai tea
leave the bags of chai tea in the water and let it cool down
fill up the bottom of a glass with cinnamon flavored syrup
if you're using sugar, fill up the bottom of a glass with sugar
fill your glass with ice cubes/crushed ice
pour milk over the frozen water
once the tea is cold (and saturated!), pour it over the milk
sprinkle some cinnamon powder on top
This refreshing drink is perfect for all the hardcore tea-lovers out there, who drink about 7 cups of tea a day for approximately 351 days per year - but simply can't force a hot mug of tea down their throats during the two hottest weeks of the year. Summing it up: it's perfect for me. I know you'll love it too - the only thing missing is the jazzy Starbucks playlist, but Spotify has some awesome alternatives. You're good to go now! - or, just stay in, because you don't have to go to Starbucks anymore.
I also made a little video to accompany this recipe. You can view it by clicking right here! What do you think of my new template, by the way? Let me know!
