My Dream Holiday

Oh guys, you don't know how badly I want to trade in my cold room for a nice week (or two) away to  Ibiza, or Bali, or Malta.. you name it. It's been quite cold in The Netherlands and even though I think it's better now than the few weeks of absolutely unbearable temperatures we've had, I still miss being able to wear my bikini to the beach - or just in the garden.

This blogpost is a collaboration between Yelloh! Village and Lemontierres.

I've been on many vacations together with my parents, and I feel blessed I have been able to go on planes, experience new cultures and be some place else than The Netherlands. It's a great country - don't get me wrong - but I think you can't truly appreciate the country you live in, until you've seen other places.

I'm not going away this year and I'm a tad sad about that, but it doesn't really matter - because once I have more money and the opportunity to go again, I'll be extra excited. And.. I can always dream, right?! Like I said - I'm currently dreaming about good weather, and, most importantly: no rain.

I've never been camping before: I've always stayed in hotels or apartments. I like big cities, hotel-provided shampoos, lobbies - just the whole 'hotel- and apartment-vibe' - but I've always been curious: would I like staying on a camping? Would I 'survive' in a tent?

I've only slept 'out in nature' once in my life, and it wasn't a perfect first-time experience, as I wasn't prepared for the cold night at all: I couldn't sleep because my body was so shaky (and I'm not even kidding here, you should've seen me). I think I found the perfect compromise: Yelloh! Village. Whenever I think of campings I only see the negative sides: not-working showers, a lack of flushing toilets and cold nights. Yelloh! Village seems to offer the exact opposite: luxurious first-class campings surrounded by nature, accompanied with well-trained employees. Their rewarded accommodations sound nothing like a regular camping and I'd actually be willing to go there - their accommodations sound more like open air hotels than the shady campings I usually hear about.

As you can see, they offer accommodations other than campings as well. Someone, please take me there! I'll wear the fedora and I'll serve you smoothies!

I've never been to France either, apart from a quick 2-day trip to Paris with school, but except from the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre museum I didn't see much. I'd love to go there again some day, as many people I know are very enthusiastic about this beautiful country. A perfect way to discover the le pays is to go camping in France and I'd love to do that one day.

What I'd do if I were to go on a vacation isn't special: it's what I always do when I'm somewhere to relax. I read. Tons. Of. Books. Anyone who knows me can confirm - until my beloved e-reader entered my life, half of my suitcase would be filled with books only, leaving little to no space for other essentials such as clothes. I really want to visit Indonesia one day, too, especially Bali - to learn how to surf and eat smoothie bowls and practice my non-existent yoga skills, but for now, a simple vacation in the sun with a good book is all I want.

Are you going on a holiday this summer? Or have you already been? Please let me know! And for now...

have a beautiful day!

  1. Sad to know it's still a little cold in the Netherlands :( Hope you still can make the best of it !!
If everything goes according to plan, we're going to spend a week-end in New York with the family, but honestly my ''school year'' are usually so intense I truly do fully enjoy the simple vacation in my city.
PS: Bring me a fedora too and I'll gladly serve the smoothies with you ! xD

  2. Bali is beautiful and the perfect place to take a break. You could read endlessly for as long as you stayed. It's nice to visit places that don't make you feel like you have to visit too many "tourist" spots!! Sending some sunshine your way….

  4. I'm not going away this year either, which I'm really gutted about because travel is my passion. So it's sad to not be able to go! Last year I went to The Netherlands though and I completely adored it! It's so pretty and I would love to go again! You are very lucky. I live in Ireland haha, the novelty wears off after a while but I appreciate its beautiful coastlines very much! Great Post x

  12. I'm not going away this summer, though I was lucky enough to spend a few days in Copenhagen earlier on this year, which was a nice break from the UK.
The idea of camping in luxury sounds brilliant as like you, I tend to prefer the lure of a luxury hotel with loads of amenities!

That's so funny to hear that your suitcase would be filled with books.. Luckily now you can bring hundreds with you and not take up any space at all!!
