Oh, oh, oh, I have been so happy lately. I can't put my finger on what it really is, but nobody has been able to break my good mood. It's been a while since I last posted a 'what made me happy'-post and to eternalize this beautiful state of mind I decided to share one again.
I'm typing this on the 25th of January and temperatures were as high as 15 degrees celsius today. What! I know it's not really positive because it most likely has something to do with climate changes and such - but I secretly-not-so-secretly really enjoyed sitting on my balcony with a beautiful book this morning. <3
I don't have any children but I sometimes feel like a classic mom - I recently found out that the price of detergent was reduced in my usual supermarket and this made me jump excitedly (#noshame). I now have a new softener and it smells so good and makes my clothes smell so fresh oooh - I already look forward to drying myself whilst showering because I know my towel is going to smell amazing. (for whoever's interested: honeysuckle & sandalwood detergent by the Dutch (?) brand Robijn) (I think I am the anti-student)
I've thought of something so awesome, you can't even imagine. I'm working really hard and am putting all of my plans together and once they're working out I'll tell you guys more.
And all of a sudden I found motivation
I've been quite a decent blogger lately, if I may say so (I'm posting at least once every three days!) - but I've been more motivated uni-wise as well. I passed all of my exams, almost finished all of the reports that are due and I finally feel a bit more certain about the choice I've made regarding my course.
A salt lamp!
This has been on my wish list for so long! I recently visited my parents for a few days and asked my mom whether she'd like to join me on a trip to a stone- and mineral center in Nederweert (The Netherlands). The store we visited had some beautiful salt lamps - and they weren't too expensive either. My mom paid about 10 euros for my approximately 3kg lamp (yes, it was a present - doesn't that make it even better <3) - they also had humongous lamps for 35 euros (but I couldn't lift those - imagine having to take one of these with me on the train to Amsterdam. Hah!)
I was really craving a fruit/vegetable-detox after the sugar- and salt heavy Holidays. My juicer and blender are blending and juicing non-stop and I've had to refill my fruit basket about 4 times in the past few weeks. I feel healthy again - and this always is very beneficial to my skin as well.
A new job?
I have been looking for a new likable job for quite some time. I've worked at many restaurants in the past but I hadn't really found the time to start looking for a nice little job on the side since I moved to Amsterdam. Ever since I moved into my new room money has been tight and even though being a bit more careful for a few weeks isn't too big of a problem for me, I'm looking forward to having a bit more freedom money-wise again. I have a test-day at a really cute place tomorrow, wish me luck! (update on the 28th: I got the job! woohoo!)
Going to bed early, waking up early
The Christmas holidays really messed up my sleeping pattern. Some nights I wouldn't go to bed before 1.30, maybe even 2, and in the morning I woke up around 11 (yawningly). I really wanted to break this pattern because I'm not really productive in the evenings and I felt like I was wasting my days - I now go to bed around 11.30 and wake up at 8. And that works perfectly fine for me! If I were being completely productive and daring I'd make my pattern even better and decide to go to bed around 11 and wake up at 7 - but for now this works just great. Having some time to sit down with decent breakfast and a book is enough.
It's nice to make a little list of everything that has been making you happy. Even when you have loads to be sad or angry or grumpy about, there will always be light. <3
